TourTurf® Tank Cleaner

Pesticide users often abstain from using cleaning agents because they think a spray tank thoroughly rinsed with water is free of harmful pesticide residues and other pollutants. In most cases, rinsing with standard detergents is not enough.

TourTurf® Tank Cleaner is manufactured by the world’s leading tank cleanser producer and features the latest tank cleaning technology. Rapid advances in crop protection formulations also require significant advances in tank cleaning products. To avoid later damage and residues in the spray tank, after spraying all traces of pesticides should be removed from the spray tank with Tank Cleaner. By using Tank Cleaner, the risk of cross-contamination with different pesticides is reduced to an absolute minimum.

Effect:

The function of Tank Cleaner is not based on the effect of a single detergent or a strong solvent. Instead, the product has three components: consisting of wetting agents, a mixture of complexing agents and sulphates.

The tank cleaner attaches itself to unwanted substances and detaches pollutants from the inside of the tank.

Application:

Tank Cleaner is a specially formulated liquid spray tank cleaner that removes pesticides and other residues including oily substances from:

  • Spray tank
  • Boom
  • Hoses
  • Filters
  • Nozzles

The product can also be used in high-pressure washers to remove debris, dirt, etc. on the outside of the sprayer.

Recommended mixture:
Use 0.5% TourTurf® Tank Cleaner or 1 litre TourTurf® Tank Cleaner per 200 litre tank volume.

Instructions for use:

  1. Empty the tank completely and rinse the tank, boom and hoses with clean water. Empty the tank again.
  2. Fill the tank half with clean water and add the recommended amount of Tank Cleaner, rinse the outriggers and hoses and leave the medium on for 10 minutes with the stirrer switched on. Completely empty the spray tank.
  3. Nozzles and filters must be removed and cleaned separately with the Tank Cleaner solution. Leave the parts in a bucket of 250 ml Tank Cleaner per 10 litres of water.

Stains on the outside of the spray unit should be removed by rinsing with clean water or with a 0.5% tank cleaner solution applied with a high pressure washer.

TourTurf® Tank Cleaner powerfully and safely removes residues from your spray equipment. It is safe to use on all internal and external areas of spraying systems. It can also be used on other turf maintenance machinery.

Product Features and Benefits
Pesticides and other turf products can bind to the inside of the spray tank, the filters and nozzles, especially when combined with pigments, surfactants or adjuvants. Water alone may not remove these contaminants and therefore TourTurf® Tank Cleaner is recommended as part of the spraying procedure.

Regular cleaning of mower blades may help reduce the spread of pathogens collected on the mower blades or associated machinery. This will help the reduce of the spread of the turf disease to additional amenity areas.

  • All in one cleaning solution for spraying systems and turf machinery.
  • Can be used on Knapsack and tractor mounted sprayers.
  • Maintains the performance and effectiveness of the sprayer.
  • Can be used to eliminate and reduce the spread of pathogens on mowers.
  • Dual use formulation for internal and external cleaning of the sprayer.
  • Regular cleaning and full decontamination procedure available.
  • Can be used to clean other turf machinery including mowers.
  • Safe to use on all types of external machinery parts.

  • General Cleaning – External

  • It is recommended that the product should be tested on a small area of any new machinery to be cleaned before full coverage.
  • Place Tank Cleaner into a bucket at the rate of 50 ml per 10L water.
  • Wearing gloves and protective clothing, use a sponge to cover the desired machinery in the solution of Tank Cleaner.

  • General & Full Decontamination Procedure – Internal

  • Scrub well where required ensuring the machinery is completely covered.
  • Leave the solution on the equipment for 15 minutes before rinsing off with clean water using a hosepipe or pressure washer.
  • After spraying, immediately drain spray tank and hoses.
  • Half fill the tank with clean water and add full amount of Tank Cleaner at the rate of 500 mL per 100L of tank capacity.
  • Start the pump with full agitation and mix well.
  • Flush the Tank Cleaner solution through the entire system, ensuring that boom end valves are open and/or bungs removed for a complete boom treatment.
  • Close boom end valves and/or replace bungs once Tank Cleaner solution flows freely from the ends of the booms.
  • General Cleaning – Top up the tank until filled with clean water and allow to stand for 15 minutes with the agitation running. Flush all the solution out of the spray tank via the spray boom lines and nozzles.
  • Full decontamination Procedure – Top up the tank until filled with clean water and allow to stand overnight or for 24 hours after agitation has been running for 15 minutes.
  • Flush all the solution out of the spray tank via the spray boom lines and nozzles.
  • Nozzles, screens, filters and non-drip diaphragms should be removed and washed separately with Tank Cleaner at the rate of 50ml in 10l of water. These can be left overnight if undertaking a full decontamination procedure.
  • Drain tank and flush the entire system with clean water.

  • Corrosion Testing
Tank Cleaner has been tested to confirm that no corrosion would be caused by the product and that it would be successful in removing dirt from machinery surfaces.
Components were left in solution for extended periods of time to assess any effects of prolonged or repeated exposure. This was achieved by weighing the components at given time intervals – a significant decrease in weight would be indicative of a corrosive effect. The components used included the following: Bolts and Screws/ Tyre inner tube / Rubber inner tubes / Assorted bearings/ Painted metal.

Tank Cleaner can be used as a machinery cleaner. No significant levels of corrosion were detected on any of the components. The cleaner will successfully remove dirt from machinery parts.

Care should be taken with old machinery for which paint and rust may be flaking. Any flaking on the surface may be removed by the solution. Tank Cleaner should be tested on a small area of any new machinery to be cleaned before full coverage.
